Like my first post, this one comes from materials I prepared for and use in my intro course on human geography. It is also a short mini-lecture I recorded in 2015, and examines two (three, actually) specific places - the Canadian National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (as well as the Vimy Ridge battlefield and memorial in France) and the Neue Wache in Berlin, Germany.
